Life is Like a Box of Wine... More-so than a Box of Chocolates....

I think, boy do I think. Today I'm thinking that Forrest Gump's mother was only partially right when she told Forrest that life was like a box of chocolates. Life is like a box alright. It has been my experience however, that life is a bit more like a box of wine. Boxed wine is often snubbed and thought of as the ramen noodle of wines.  The reality of it is, boxed wine can be delicious. Some people just can't get over the packaging. They are quick with the nose shrugs and assumptions that it is inferior. Meanwhile, inside that box of wine is a satisfying, full bodied, rich, quality spirit. The box itself acts as a protective shield for the wine. Should the boxed wine fall off of a table, it is likely to survive. You will initially panic as it falls, but luckily the box will only dent. The wine survives and can still be enjoyed.  When a glass bottle of wine falls of a table you will end up with shattered glass, wine splashed about and your money wasted. I have been given the box of wine treatment more than once in my life. I used to take offence to it until I realized that being "boxed" actually had some benefits. People will underestimate you, then have to eat their words when they experience just how much of the real deal that you are. Some will eventually see how much of a blessing your unique packaging can actually be. So my point you ask? There is a point I promise. Stop treating people like boxed wine. And if you insist on treating people like boxed wine, don't be a hater when you see the boxed wine receiving accolade after accolade. Have you ever been treated like a box of wine? What would the you version of boxed wine be called? Life is like a box of wine and that box is full of surprises.

P.S. Full disclosure,  I ate a box of chocolates while I wrote this.

I do not own any rights to the music or videos; I am just a music lover sharing what's keeping my ears happy.

  1. OMG what a great read. I am learning to love me right now. This touched my heart. I recently dated a very shallow man. He told me looks are everything to a man. Women are so much more then our looks. What about our strength? Our loyalty, our love for our families, our work ethic, our heart. Most women I know put everything and everybody before themselves. These are the qualities I want a man to think about when he says he loves me. I think all women have been treated like a box wine in the past. We as women have to make sure that we are being valued for what's on the inside of our package.
